I observed the digitized anxiety from confinement on social media and inundation of grievances over good times and favored outdoor activities. The new norm was the height of conversation while face masks and sanitizers became the aesthetic to the contemporary and, as islanders, it was difficult to comprehend the new pandemic atmosphere. Bedroom selfies had a grim gaze and the privacy became lonelier. The image started as a simple post, wherein I requested my instagram followers to share their favourite images with me with a promise that I would feature it in a work. From images of their pets, to the dankest memes from their mobile galleries. I didn;t expect the response and I didn't know what I would make out of the images. The amount of images I received was overwhelming, a true sign of heightened engagement, frustration and a search for something meaningful. The images punched me in the gut with a new hope. This work for me is a 'visual hug;. A virtual toast to life.
