India Art Fair is the leading platform to discover modern and contemporary art from South Asia and a portal to the region’s culturallandscape. Taking place annually in the capital city of New Delhi, India Art Fair reflects thecountry’s fast-developing art scene, as well as offering curated insights into the culturallandscapes of neighbouring states. The fair’s programme draws together galleries, artists,private foundations, arts charities, artists’collectives, national institutions, cultural eventsand festivals. It aims to enable both local and international audiences to engage in innovativeways with the cultural history and development of the South Asian region.This fair marks the third international art fair presentation by Saskia Fernando Gallery inleading art fairs internationally.
The purpose of presenting work in international art fairs is to widen the exposure ofcontemporary Sri Lankan art to an international audience. Art fairs receive one of the largestattendance of visitors to the three to four day event that focuses entirely on smallpresentations of works handpicked by the galleries themselves. In this years presentation Saskia Fernando Gallery presents the work of Priyantha Udagedara, Chandraguptha Thenuwara and Saskia Pintelon, three artists whose most recent projects and exhibitions ofwork both locally and internationally make them three of the leading Sri Lankancontemporary artists to watch. In addition the gallery will present it’s entire portfolio of 20 plus artists to the collectors at the fair.The leading art fairs ofthe world hold strict criteria for participationand final selections aremade by a committee that reviews proposals presented by each gallery.Saskia Fernando Gallery is proud to be the first Sri Lankan art gallery to present its artists on these leadingplatforms internationally to an audience that comprises not only of collectors from respectiveregions but also boasts in attendance international representatives from leading artinstitutions around the world
