In her first series of woodcut prints, the artist focuses on a darker palette, highlighting her story of village life. The contrast of the artist's chosen colour palette juxtaposed by a detailed aesthetic beauty in her drawings, draw emphasis on the feminist narrative behind her work. 'I live in a village and this is a strong influence on my work,' states Hansika. Her works bring to light the characteristic of Sri Lanka's predominantly matriarchal society, with the woman as a strong image at the centre of her works, naked and combined with nature to illustrate harmony.
