This artwork highlights the struggle of Sri Lankan people against a disillusioned government that tries to keep aloft its mast of power. Using embroidery, Shironi reimagines the six vertical bands of the Buddhist flag by replacing its colours with miniature objects that relate to the country’s political and economic crisis — blue gas cylinders, yellow barricades, red public buses, white vans, and orange petrol cans.
