Varied examinations of terrain find convergences in Rupaneethan Pakkiyarajah's drawings, which examine the body and the earth in a symbiotic expression of profound affliction. The organic and the vegetal warp into organs and blood vessels in a deeply felt response to the trauma of war, and therefore share resonances with the poetic tradition of Akam, wherein the body becomes a landscape for the poetic expression of love, longing, and desire.
