'For me, the painting feels like a scene out of a horror film. A slow-burning art house horror where the main character (The daughter) discovers a major secret of her family which was hidden from her. Personally, I don't think my collage represents anything from ACGS's painting. Mine is about the 3rd generation. The late millennial or Gen Z granddaughter who loves to consume brands and probably has her own Tik Tok account doing all sorts of Gucci choreography wearing her granddad's traditional devil dancing clothes. The family secret passes to her as well.Just as the traditional values. As the viewer, you never know what the secret is about but we all can relate to it 'cause all families and traditions hold their own unique good and bad secrets. It's just how each generation faces them and deals with them.To summarise, 'Devil Dancer's Granddaughter' is all about us millennials who are discovering and showcasing our identities and politics on social media.' - Muvindu Binoy
