Symmetry presents a body of work by Pramith Geekiyanage that places emphasis on the visual aesthetic of space and colour. Similarly to the inkblots used in the Rorschach psychological tests these paintings invoke emotional responses. Inkblots have been used as tests of both creativity and emotion by researchers since the 19th century. Geekiyanage relates his work strongly to the role it has played in transforming his own surroundings and the world in which he lives. He relates his artistic practice to his search for inner peace; his abstract works are therefore without meaning and put forward to the viewer as an ambiguous statement.
