It was not long after this that I came into contact with the artist and was taken by the intuitive, spiritual and technical strength of her work. Tsukahara’s portraits stood out the most, her abstract realistic depictions of people presented a dissection of character and detail of personality that stood out strongly. In this exhibition the artist depicts her chosen personalities of the Sri Lankan contemporary art scene, particularly those she has come into contact with. The portraits have been perceptively painted using the style or thematic of the person themselves; the majority of her interpretations focus on the artists’ oeuvre. The title of her series suggests another world, or another life, from which artistic expression emerges. Tsukahara’s work is spiritually intuitive and technically perfect.
